FHP: Leon County crash leaves passenger dead, driver seriously injured

A single-vehicle wreck near Leon County’s Miccosukee community resulted in the death of a passenger, the Florida Highway Patrol said in a news release. The driver was seriously hurt.

The crash happened shortly after 4 p.m. Aug. 12 on T S Green Road near Old Magnolia Road, which is near the Jefferson County line.

The 26-year-old driver of a sedan was heading west when he veered into the shoulder, then overcorrected and crossed back over the roadway, smashing into several trees, the FHP said.

A 68-year-old passenger died at the scene; the driver had “incapacitating injuries” and was taken to Tallahassee Memorial HealthCare, according to the release. Both were wearing seatbelts.

Troopers had closed the road as they were investigating the crash. FHP was assisted by the Leon County Sheriff’s Office, Leon County EMS, and the Tallahassee Fire Department, the release said.

The Highway Patrol does not identify crash victims in news releases.
