Florida State has been doing a good job of getting elite talent to commit over the last month. The same day they flipped four-star wide receiver Devin Carter from the Auburn Tigers, FSU added four-star tight end Xavier Tiller.
It wasn’t an easy recruiting for the Seminoles to win. Tiller had 35 total offers from some of the biggest programs in the country. Once it was time for him to make a choice, it was the feeling Tiller got from people inside the program that played a huge role.
“When I was making my decision, I felt like I was going to go with my heart and where I felt like I can play early,” Tiller told Noles247. “I feel like Florida State really showed that. The love the coaches showed for me, it was like crazy. The head coach, the GM, the tight end coach, like everybody showed me love. I really felt like that was the place. I feel like Florida State is building some special despite last season. They might not have had a good last season, but they are going to do something special. Just wait.”
Tiller’s recruitment came down to the Alabama Crimson Tide, Auburn Tigers, and Florida State. One thing that helped the Seminoles was that they received his final official visit on June 13, and they put the finishing touches on getting him to commit.
“After my OV. When I really like just sat down with my family and really thought about it. I felt like I can make an impact there.”
Tiller stated that he plans to be in attendance when Florida State hosts Alabama to kick off the season, as well as other games. That won’t stop any schools from pursuing a flip, and Tiller hasn’t year closed the book on his recruitment despite being committed.
“No, I wouldn’t say I’m done. I am committed, but I wouldn’t just say I’ve shut down my whole recruitment I’m not doing that. But I am committed. I’m locked in. But you know, anything can happen, but I’m locked in right now.”
The 247Sports composite rankings have Tiller as the nation’s No. 204 overall recruit and the No. 11 tight end. He’s also listed as the No. 23 prospect in Georgia.
