Doak Campbell Stadium transforms for PBR, concerts

Iconic Doak Campbell Stadium is once again showing its versatility.

Fresh off a sold-out crowd of 67,277 for baseball’s Banana Ball on Saturday, Feb. 28, Florida State’s football stadium is preparing for yet another dramatic transformation.

In the coming days, approximately 2,500 tons of dirt — more than 5.5 million pounds — will be spread across roughly 30,000 square feet of Bobby Bowden Field, turning Doak into a bull-riding showcase.

The PBR, the world’s largest professional bull riding league, will bring its Unleash the Beast series to Tallahassee on Friday and Saturday, March 13–14. The action-packed weekend will be capped by two major concerts, with Jon Pardi, “The California Cowboy,” performing Friday night and Grammy Award-winning Miranda Lambert headlining Saturday.

PBR’s production at Doak will be more than three times the size of a traditional elite tour event. The setup will include expanded sound, video and lighting systems to fully cover Bobby Bowden Field, with seating concentrated on the stadium’s west side.

PBR Florida State marks the 13th stop of the 18-event 2026 Unleash the Beast regular season and features a $200,000 purse. Each event counts toward qualification for the prestigious PBR World Finals in Fort Worth, Texas.

“Bringing the Unleash the Beast and two major concerts to Doak Campbell Stadium represents another huge step in how PBR is redefining live sports and entertainment,” PBR CEO Sean Gleason said in a league release.

“Adding Jon Pardi and Miranda Lambert turns an already massive weekend into a stadium experience fans cannot get anywhere else. This partnership showcases what is possible when universities open their doors to world-class Western sports and music.”
