This winter, Delta Air Lines will launch new seasonal weekend service linking Florida’s Space Coast with New York City.
Service will kick off Dec. 19 with flights operating Saturdays and Sundays between New York’s LaGuardia Airport and Melbourne Orlando International Airport. Flights will continue through May 2, 2027.
“Delta’s decision to add LaGuardia service speaks to the strength of the Space Coast travel market and the demand we’ve seen for travel between our region and New York,” Greg Donovan, executive director of the Melbourne airport, said in an email.
“LaGuardia is MLB’s largest New York market, making this a natural addition to our route network. The weekend schedule is an excellent fit for Port Canaveral, the world’s busiest cruise port, giving travelers the convenience of flying into the closest commercial service airport to the port while supporting tourism and strengthening our regional economy,” Donovan said.
Tickets go on sale Saturday, June 27. Delta’s Embraer E-175 aircraft that will fly the route are configured with 44 main cabin seats, 20 “comfort seats” and 12 first-class seats.
“This new route offers convenient access between the New York area and Melbourne, supporting leisure travel during the peak winter season while connecting visitors directly to one of Florida’s most unique coastal destinations,” a Delta spokesperson said in an email.
“As the largest global carrier in New York, Delta continues to expand travel options for customers while strengthening access to major leisure markets like Florida’s Space Coast,” the email said.
Delta’s announcement came just three days after Sun Country Airlines announced it will resume seasonal service linking Melbourne with Minneapolis-St. Paul. Those flights will debut Jan. 22 and last until April 2.
