Dark Winds Season 4, Episode 2 airs Sunday night, Feb. 22, as AMC’s hit crime thriller continues its tense new chapter following last week’s Season 4 premiere.

In Navajo culture, chindi is the malevolent spirit containing all negative traits that leaves a person when they take their final breath.
Ghost sickness is believed to be caused by contact with the chindi.
According to the National Institutes of Health, symptoms of ghost sickness include lethargy, nightmares and feelings of dread and impending doom.
In Dark Winds Season 4, Chee suffers from ghost sickness after contact with a dead person’s chindi, forcing him to confront past grief and trauma.
Who is Irene in Dark Winds?
German actress Franka Potente, 51, joins Dark Winds in Season 4 as ruthless villain Irene Vaggan, who has a dark WWII past and becomes obsessed with Leaphorn.
Irene is fixated with Native Americans, life in the Southwest and warriors from books she read in Germany.
When she lays eyes on Leaphorn while working on the reservation, it’s her fantasy come true.
“She’s a sociopath. And a psychopath. I mean, she’s demented,” showrunner John Wirth said of Irene in an interview with Collider.
Potente is known for her roles in Run Lola Run, The Bourne Identity and The Bourne Supremacy.
She married actor Derek Richardson in 2012. The couple lives in Los Angeles with their two daughters.
