Cosse’s Place has permanently closed its traditional New Orleans-style restaurant at 2601 Highway 90 in Pace, following “ongoing health issues” of the owners, prohibiting them from being able to “operate the restaurant the way it deserves.”
“We are incredibly grateful to our loyal customers, dedicated staff, and everyone who has supported our family over the years,” Cosse’s shared in a brief closure statement online on Jan. 17. “Your kindness and encouragement have meant the world to us, and we will always cherish the memories made here. Thank you for being part of our journey!”
Owner and chef Mike Cosse reopened the restaurant in a new location in 2024 after a fire devastated their Milton sit-down location in 2023.
Long-time patrons were delighted to see the concept return the next year, bigger and better, with a liquor license, some new menu features and a wrap-around porch to enjoy their meal on nice nights.
However, Cosse managed to carry over all the elements of the restaurant that fans knew and loved, ranging from their freshly shucked oysters to their Louisiana décor, ranging from New Orleans Jazz & Heritage Festivals of the past to New Orleans Saints jerseys.
Cosse’s other location, Cosse’s Corner Shack, also closed in 2024, and was purchased by Pensacola area chef Mike Tilton, who renamed it to Mikey’s Corner Shack.
