Contract details revealed for new Dolphins punter

The Miami Dolphins completely revamped their special teams group this offseason, signing two long snappers, two kickers and two punters to replace Joe Cardona, Jason Sanders and Jake Bailey.

Of the two punters they signed, only Seth Vernon was given a two-year deal. According to Over the Cap, the contract is worth $1.94 million with base salaries and cap hits of $885,000 in 2026 and $1.05 million in 2027.

With no guaranteed money in either year, the Dolphins could cut Vernon at any point and save the entirety of the contract without taking on any more dead cap.

Vernon has bounced around the NFL but has never booted in a real game. He does, however, have experience in the UFL, averaging 45.4 yards per punt with the Michigan Panthers in 2025.

If he wants to earn the job, he’ll have to beat out Bradley Pinion, who has 750 career punts in his 11 years in the NFL thus far.
