MIAMI GARDENS — Miami Dolphins general manager Jon-Eric Sullivan has said that when other GMs call, it’s his job to answer the phone.
But Sullivan might want to activate that call-screening gizmo that asks callers to reveal why they’re calling. It then gives you the option of saying I don’t think so.
Maybe Sullivan should have seen it coming that when he declared running back De’Von Achane ‘not available for trade,” down went the floodgates for every pundit with a keyboard or a podcast to predict Achane’s landing spot.

Los Angeles? Achane reunited with Chargers offensive coordinator Mike McDaniel! The script writes itself.
There were plenty of others. Seattle, looking for a replacement for Super Bowl MVP Kenneth Walker III. The New York Giants, looking for a running mate for Cam Skattebo.
Well, It ain’t happening. It’s not happening, and not just because Sullivan said so.
Reasons De’Von Achane will remain a Dolphin in 2026
Let us count the reasons Achane will be a Dolphin in 2026 and why his situation is unlike that of Jaylen Waddle, who was traded to Denver:
All this assumes logical thinking prevails. Sometimes in the NFL, GMs get desperate. If some GM out there is positive Achane is the only thing between them and winning the Super Bowl, maybe he’ll grovel in his voicemail to Sullivan.
“My job as the general manager is if the phone rings, I have to listen,” Sullivan said in response to a question on whether any player is ever truly off limits. “Any player is tradable at a certain price, but there are certain guys that we definitely want to be part of the long-term future that are on this roster currently.”
He didn’t say Achane’s name.
He didn’t have to.
