State records show Bonchon, a Dallas-based restaurant chain that specializes in Korean fried chicken, is planning to open in the former Rock N’ Roll Sushi location in Butler North next to Tijuana Flats.
The Rock N’ Roll Sushi at 3205 Clark Butler Blvd., Suite 50, closed quietly on Aug. 17 after about two years in business. It was the second area Rock N’ Roll Sushi — both run by Gainesville franchise owner Jim Dykes — to close this year. The location in the Tioga Town Center, which opened in 2021, closed in March. The Butler North location greeted unsuspecting diners with the same message posted on the Tioga location’s front door.
“This difficult decision was not made lightly and comes after much thoughtful consideration. Despite our best efforts to navigate the challenges of the past few years, we have been unable to sustain our operations.”
Bonchon has yet to announce an opening date. The chain has locations across the U.S. and internationally in places such as Cambodia, Thailand, Vietnam and France. Open locations in Florida can be found in Jacksonville, Orlando, Tampa and Miami.
The restaurant’s signature Korean fried chicken comes with your choice of soy garlic, spicy or Korean barbecue sauces. Its menu also includes bulgogi fries, potstickers, bao buns, Korean tacos and house fried rice, among many other dishes.
Butler Enterprises announced via social on Sept 2 of Bonchon’s plans to open in Gainesville.
“This right here is gonna be my new favorite spot!!” wrote one Facebook user. “BONCHON is absolutely delicious!!” wrote another.
Texas de Brazil
Butler also announced on Aug. 22 that Texas de Brazil, an upscale Brazilian steakhouse will be opening in Butler Town Center at Stengel Field in summer 2026. The area across P.F. Chang’s is currently under construction.
The all-you-can-eat concept’s “meat is roasted on spits over hot coals or an open fire,” according to its website.
Meat options include top sirloin, flank steak, filet mignon, Brazilian sausage, lamb, pork loin, barbecued pork ribs and more.
Dinner at the Orlando location will set you back $63.99 ($33.99 salad bar only) per person. Lunch starts at $42.99 per person. Other Florida locations can be found in Jacksonville, Tampa, Palm Beach Gardens and several in and around the Fort Lauderdale-Miami area.
The restaurant chain also has several international locations, including in Aruba, Panama, Saudi Arabia, South Korea and more.
