Blue Front building in Lake Worth evolves again. See how it's changed

The former Blue Front Bar and Grill building on Dixie Highway in Lake Worth Beach is expected to reopen by Labor Day as the latest addition to the restaurant chain RuRu’s Tacos & Tequila, its owner says.

The Mexican-style restaurant would be the fourth business to operate out of the lighthouse-shaped Art Deco building since it was built in the 1940s.

Before it closed in 2018, Blue Front had operated out of the space since 2014. Before that, it was Jetsetter Lounge — opened in 2006 and sporting a mid-20th century space-age motif, complete with Formica counters and plastic chairs in pale lavender, pink, green and turquoise.

From the 1940s into the 1990s, the building housed Kristine’s Restaurant.
