Bishop Verot boys, Community School and Fort Myers girls win golf district championships

A roundup of Southwest Florida high school events for the week of Oct. 27-Nov. 1, 2025.

TUESDAY

Girls Golf

District 1A-12 championship: Community School claimed the district title by 13 strokes over runner-up Bishop Verot at the Valencia Golf & Country Club in Naples. Isabella Michetti shot a 1-over 73 to lead the Seahawks, with Emmey Siek (74), Norah Urrea (83) and Grace Shahraki (86) rounding out the scoring for Community School.

The Village School’s Caraline Hartfield, Canterbury’s Ainsley Grohowski, and First Baptist’s Makayla Caine qualified as individuals for regionals. Hartfield shot a 1-under 71 to claim the individual championship, while Grohowski and Caine each shot 77 to tie for fifth place.

District 2A-13 championship: Fort Myers captured the district title while Estero was runner-up in the event, held at the Ibis Landing Golf & Country Club in Lehigh Acres. Macy Sawczyn led the Green Wave with an 88, the lowest individual score. Addison Berta (89), Richelle Brito (116), and Libby Verrengia (124) closed out the scoring for Fort Myers.

LaBelle’s Kristy Wingate, who shot 104 and tied for third with Estero’s Olivia Puskas, and Riverdale’s Ava Smith (109), who finished fifth, each qualified for regionals as individuals.

Boys Golf

District 1A-12 championship: Bishop Verot shot a 5-over 293 to claim the overall title by four strokes over The Village School at Valencia Golf & Country Club in Naples. JC Iglesias led the Vikings with a 1-under 71 with Easton Green (72), Adrian Bahnam (73) and Caden Kellum (77) rounding out the scoring for Bishop Verot.

Marco Island’s Kaden Latreille, Village School’s Kieran Shaw and Community School’s Spencer Ives were all individual qualifiers for regionals. Latreille shot a 9-under 63 to win the event, besting Shaw and Ives, who both shot 69, by six shots.

Community School finished third as a team with a 304 followed by St. John Neumann with a 306.

Monday

Boys Golf

District 2A-15 championship: Barron Collier shot a 2-over 290 to claim the district title by two strokes over American Heritage at The Quarry in Naples. Jack Ryan Donovan led the Cougars, firing a 4-under 68 to tie for first place. Ian Psota (73), Zachary Felton (74), and Matt Johnson (75) rounded out the scoring for Barron Collier, who secured a spot at next week’s regional tournament in Pompano Beach.

Gulf Coast’s Gavin Kieffer and Aubrey Rogers’ Mason Stieler qualified as individual at-large competitors for the regional championship. They each carded an even-par 72 to tie for fifth place.

District 2A-13 championship: Fort Myers edged Estero by three strokes to win the title at The Club at Renaissance in Fort Myers. Henry Liebwein shot a 3-under 69 to take first place for the Green Wave. Pedro Olave (78), Jackson Mills (78) and Noah Pruss (78) rounded out the scoring for Fort Myers. Estero’s AJ White shot an even par 72 to place second overall.

Riverdale’s Jacob Timmerman and LaBelle’s Zachary Sutton qualified as individuals for regionals. Timmerman shot a 74 to tie Estero’s Rylan Stewart for third place, while Sutton shot a 78 to tie for fifth place.

District 3A-11 championship: Gateway finished second at Twin Isles Country Club in Punta Gorda, 25 shots behind champion Charlotte, to qualify for the regional tournament. Beau Rassatt took first place, shooting a 1-under 71 to lead Gateway. Felix Flores (89), Brock Schmidt (100), and Jacob Steuber (111) rounded out the scoring for the Eagles.

Ida Baker’s Thomas Bevan and Palmetto Ridge’s Ethan Bates qualified as individuals for regionals. Bevan finished second overall, shooting an 80, while Bates tied for fourth place with an 82.
