Next up on the schedule for the Jacksonville Jaguars is a Week 4 matchup with San Francisco. However, the 49ers will be without star pass rusher Nick Bosa.
According to ESPN’s Adam Schefter, Bosa suffered a season-ending torn ACL in the 49ers’ win on Sunday over Arizona.
Bosa had accumulated nine pressures and two sacks through just two games, according to PFF, and has steadily been one of the most disruptive pass rushers in football for several seasons.
This includes totaling 88 pressures in 2021, 98 pressures in 2022, and a whopping 122 pressures in 2023.
For some context, the NFL’s leading pressure getter last season, Jared Verse, had 89 pressures, including the playoffs. Even with Bosa missing three games last season, he still produced 69 pressures, which ranked 13th in all of football.
Led by Bosa, the 49ers had the eighth-best pass rush win rate through the first two weeks of the season.
The Jaguars’ offensive line has held up extremely well this season, with Lawrence under duress on 23.8% of his dropbacks, according to PFF, the lowest rate in the NFL.
At edge rusher, the 49ers still have Bryce Huff, Mykel Williams, and Yetur Gross-Matos. The trio has combined for 26 pressures and two sacks this season.
