How did the crash happen?
According to the FHP release, a Tesla sedan was southbound in the outside lane of U.S. 231. A Tahoe was traveling south in the inside lane of U.S. 231.
As the Tesla overtook the Tahoe, the Tesla sideswiped the Tahoe before the rear left portion of the Tesla collided with the front right portion of the Tahoe.
This collision caused the Tesla to rotate and travel through the center grass median. The Tesla entered the northbound lane, where it collided with an Escalade that was traveling north in the inside lane of U.S. 231.
After the collision, the Tahoe came to controlled stop in the center grass median facing in a southerly direction, FHP says. The Escalade, which had the four occupants, came to final rest overturned onto its roof facing southeast. The Tesla came to final rest on the east shoulder facing north.
