2 more contract extension candidates for Jaguars after Ross Matiscik deal

This offseason, we’ve seen the Jacksonville Jaguars sign Travon Walker and, most recently, Ross Matiscik to contract extensions. Next up, there are two obvious contract extension candidates in waiting — Parker Washington and Brenton Strange.

Each player will be entering the final year of his rookie deal in 2026.

As the 2025 season progressed, Washington saw his opportunities increase. From there, he became a go-to target for Trevor Lawrence, and by the end of the season, he was one of the most productive receivers in football.

Washington would lead the Jaguars in receiving this past season, totaling 954 receiving yards, including the playoffs, with Washington eclipsing the 100-yard mark in three of the Jaguars’ final four games.

Strange, meanwhile, was a very reliable target in the passing game and totaled 549 receiving yards with three touchdowns. However, his do-it-all presence as a blocker and someone who can line up across the formation helped expand the call sheet for Liam Coen and add some unpredictability to the offense.

Earlier this offseason, ESPN’s Michael DiRocco reported that the Jaguars had “preliminary discussions” with Strange and Washington about extensions at that time. Where those talks stand currently is not known.

With both players under contract through the 2026 season, the Jaguars still have time on their side when it comes to getting deals done, but the sooner the better may be the best approach.

Strange and Washington each play a key role in making this Jaguars’ offense go.
