1 person found dead in recreational vehicle fire in Bunnell

Human remains were found inside a burnt-out recreational vehicle June 2 in Bunnell after firefighters put out the flames, according to Bunnell Police, and an investigation is underway.

A neighbor reported the fire at 11:47 p.m. on Lake Drive, Bunnell Police stated.

Bunnell Police officers, Flagler County Sheriff’s Office deputies, Flagler County Fire Rescue, and the Palm Coast Fire Department responded and “found the recreational vehicle engulfed in flames,” a press release stated.

Firefighters extinguished the fire and then discovered a body inside the recreational vehicle.

“The deceased person has not been positively identified due to the condition of the remains,” the release stated.

The Florida State Fire Marshal’s Office and the Medical Examiner’s Office are assisting with the investigation.

Police said additional information will be released when available.
