Stockton Police Department spokesperson David Scott said Trina Johnson was the daughter of Sue Johnson.

Trina Johnson appeared in a Stockton courtroom wearing an orange jumpsuit and with her head down before her arraignment began. The entire left side of the courtroom was filled with people watching the hearing.

Trina Johnson told San Joaquin County Superior Judge Allan F. Jose that she needed an attorney. She was appointed a public defender, Allison Nobert, who asked the judge for a brief break to speak with her client in private.

After the break, Trina Johnson was denied bail.

She is set to return to court for further arraignment and bail review at 8:30 a.m. on April 8.

After the hearing, some people who attended the arraignment embraced each other in the hallway of the courthouse while crying.

Suspicious death investigation

The Stockton Police Department said officers responded to the home on the day of Sue Johnson’s death following a report from the Stockton Fire Department.

The fire department reported a deceased woman to police. When officers arrived at the scene, they found Sue Johnson.

Detectives were notified of the death and responded to conduct a suspicious death investigation, police said. After detectives and evidence technicians processed the scene and collected evidence, the incident was ruled a homicide.
