As we recall SEC Network analyst Cole Cubelic asking who is the best USC football player of all time, we have to consider Junior Seau.
Trojans Wire writer Adam Bradford wrote this about Junior Seau:
“Despite playing just two seasons for the Trojans, Seau established himself as a USC legend. In 1989, he recorded a historic 19 sacks, earning unanimous All-American honors. With Seau leading the way, the Trojans won the Pac-10 title and defeated Michigan in the Rose Bowl. After USC, Seau would go on to have a Hall of Fame NFL career, during which he was named to 12 consecutive Pro Bowls from 1991-2002.”
Maybe the fact that he played just two seasons at USC “downgrades” Seau on the list of all-time-greatest Trojans, but when those two seasons were supremely brilliant, the length of Seau’s USC career doesn’t seem to matter all that much. Seau played the sport — and the linebacker position — as well as anyone could reaslistically play it. That is the simple but strong case for Junior Seau being recognized as the greatest Trojan football player of them all.
