Two men were arraigned this week on murder and accessory charges in connection with the fatal shooting of a North Highlands resident last month in Stockton.
Henry Heath, 52, and Brian Hansen, 36, were arrested on April 3 on suspicion of killing 43-year-old Derrick Lee Walthall on March 31.
Walthall was found suffering from a gunshot wound on South Commerce and West Main streets, police said.
He was taken to a hospital where he died from his injuries.
Heath was arraigned on April 6 and charged with willful, deliberate, premeditated first degree murder and being a felon/addict possessing a firearm.
He also faces an enhancement of intentionally discharging a firearm causing great bodily injury and death.
Heath will return to court on April 17 for further arraignment.
Hansen, who was arraigned on April 3, was charged with being an accessory, possession of a controlled substance for sale which was 373.63 grams of methamphetamine, being a convicted person possessing, owning a firearm, and possession of ammunition.
He faces allegations of a prior serious felony, according to the complaint document.
During Hansen’s arraignment hearing he was denied being released from jail on his own recognizance.
His bail was set at $500,000.
Hansen is set to return back to court April 17 for bail review and further arraignment.
The Stockton Record is not a naming the third suspect arrested in connection with the death because it is unclear what charges, if any, were filed against the person.
