These are the 2 reasons a Rams-Eagles A.J. Brown trade fell apart

Before acquiring Myles Garrett, the Los Angeles Rams explored a trade for another superstar. It was widely reported that they had deep talks with the Philadelphia Eagles about acquiring wide receiver A.J. Brown, but ultimately, the deal fell apart and he was sent to the New England Patriots.

There are a couple of reasons a trade between the Rams and Eagles didn’t work out, as reported by Sports Illustrated’s Albert Breer.

According to Breer, the Rams couldn’t work out a trade with another team for Davante Adams, which would’ve been necessary for Los Angeles to bring aboard Brown. Additionally, the Rams had some concerns about Brown’s knee, which was reported back in March.

If the Rams had acquired Brown, the deal would’ve centered around a 2028 first-round pick, which is what the Patriots gave up for him; New England also traded a 2027 fifth-rounder.

The Eagles then went down the road with the Rams on a trade that would’ve been centered on a 2028 first-rounder, a first-rounder that, at the time, would’ve been three drafts away. The deal crumbled when the Rams couldn’t work out a corresponding trade of Adams to another team, and with some concerns L.A. had over Brown’s knee.

The Rams publicly confirmed that they considered trading for Brown and explored a deal that would’ve sent Adams out of Los Angeles, but they decided against that avenue. They believe they’re a better team with Adams on it, opting to hold onto the veteran receiver for another season.

Had the Rams struck a deal for Brown, there’s no way they would have acquired Garrett, too. And considering Garrett moves the needle much more than Brown, it’s probably a good thing that the deal for Brown fell apart.
