The poll is open! Vote now for Martin Dentistry Football Athlete of the Week for Week 6

Each week during the 2025 San Joaquin County high school football season, The Record will honor one standout player with the Martin Dentistry Football Athlete of the Week award.

The winner is decided by you, the readers.

The Martin Dentistry award highlights the top performances from 209-area schools. This week’s ballot features eight nominees from Stockton, Galt, Oakdale, Manteca, Linden and Mountain House.

Everyone is encouraged to submit nominations for the upcoming week to dackermann@gannett.com.

The poll at the bottom of this page closes at noon on Thursday. There are no voting restrictions, so vote now and vote often.

Here are Week 6’s nominees (Athletes listed in alphabetical order by last name).

Wes Burford, Running Back, Oakdale

426 rushing yards. Seven touchdowns. Five of them from 30 yards or more.

It was the best performance of his career — and one that not only sealed a win for Oakdale, but cemented his place as the Mustang’s all-time best.

With the effort, the Air Force commit now ranks second in the state in rushing yards and first in the Sac-Joaquin Section.

“Honestly, it was just our entire offense doing our game plan like it’s always been,” Burford said. “Getting four yards every carry, the line blocking the best they possibly can. I’m proud of them because without them it’s not possible. They did awesome.”

Coach Garrett Martin added, “When you get great, natural athletic ability and you pair it with work ethic, that is very rare. In my opinion, when you’re in the top 1%, that’s what happens. That’s Wes.”

Wyatt Corriea, Running Back/Linebacker, Liberty Ranch

Homecoming night in Galt was supposed to be about the posters, the music and the halftime show.

Instead, Wyatt Corriea had other plans.

Every time the Liberty Ranch junior touched the field, something electric followed.

Corriea rumbled for 164 yards and three touchdowns on only six carries, averaging an absurd 27.3 yards per run.

And while the crowd cheered his offensive fireworks, he was just as relentless on defense — tallying 14 tackles and three tackles for loss in the Hawks’ 6-0-clinching win over Argonaut.

Jimmy Ducksworth, Cornerback, Chavez

Everyone’s talking about Chavez’s offense — but it’s time to talk about Jimmy Ducksworth.

The junior corner has been lights out this season, shutting down receivers and taking away entire sections of the field.

In Chavez’s second straight shutout, a win over Merrill West, Ducksworth came up big again, snagging in two interceptions for the third time this season.

Quarterbacks keep testing him. And he keeps making them pay.

“He’s a playmaker,” coach Derek Graves said following the Titans 37-30 Week 1 win over Escalon. “It’s one of those things. I wish I could use him on offense all the time, but we really need him on both sides of the ball.”

Running back Joel Donnell added, “Jimmy Duckworth did great. He saved us. Love you, Jimmy. He did great.”

Jackson Fay, Wide Receiver, East Union

Crisp route running. Top-end speed. Strong hands.

Those are just some of the traits that separate a typical high school receiver from a Division I prospect.

Despite East Union’s loss to Oakdale, UC Davis commit Jackson Fay continued to show why he’s headed to the next level.

Anytime the Lancers needed a play, he answered, turning key moments into points.

The senior four-sport athlete finished with 13 catches for 216 yards and five touchdowns.

Callahan Healy, Tight End, Mountain House

Mountain House may have taken a tough loss to Patterson, but something positive emerged — a true receiving threat.

Tight end Callahan Healy turned in a breakout performance, catching eight passes for 181 yards and two touchdowns.

It was his second 140-plus yard game of the year, but this one felt different — one that demanded attention.

At 6-foot-3, Healy gives the Mustangs a reliable target in an offense known more for its ground game.

With no other receiver eclipsing 100 yards this season, Healy’s rise could help reshape Mountain House’s offensive balance going forward.

Quinn Martinez, Wide Receiver, Manteca

What can one of the 40-plus teams that have offered Quinn Martinez expect from him?

In a 74-7 win over Sierra, the answer was clear — a complete playmaker who can impact the game in every phase.

Martinez hauled in five passes for 85 yards and two touchdowns.

Then, as if that wasn’t enough, he took over on special teams, returning two punts and a kickoff for touchdowns.

No matter where he lined up, Martinez was a threat to score — and he made sure everyone watching knew it.

Kenneth Moore III, Wide Receiver, St. Mary’s

It wasn’t about the numbers this time. It was about the moment.

In a 53-0 win over Lodi to open TCAL play, Kenneth Moore III’s four receptions for 77 yards and three total touchdowns told a story of legacy more than stats.

The UCLA commit broke off a sharp corner route, freezing his defender in place.

The ball sailed high — too high, it seemed — until Moore stretched out and made the diving catch, just as he’s done time and time again.

That 36-yard grab didn’t just add six points.

It made him St. Mary’s all-time leader in career receiving yards with 2,726.

DeAndre Smith, Wide Receiver, Linden

DeAndre Smith couldn’t be stopped. Again.

Already holding nearly every receiving record in Linden history, Smith looked like a player intent on putting those marks out of reach before graduation.

The 6-foot-2 senior receiver used his frame and athleticism to dominate, pulling in nine catches for 121 yards and three touchdowns against River Island.

In Linden, population barely 2,000, Friday nights still belong to him — a reminder of why he’s a player every scout should be willing to travel to see.
