A motorcyclist died in a crash Oct. 6 on Pacific Coast Highway near Mugu Rock, the latest in a series of fatal crashes across Ventura County.
The collision was reported at about 5:45 p.m. along southbound State Route 1, also known as Pacific Coast Highway, according to initial reports from the California Highway Patrol.
A 35-year-old woman from Port Hueneme riding a 2002 Harley-Davidson motorcycle was headed north on PCH around a blind curve when, for unknown reasons, she crossed into oncoming traffic, according to a news release from the CHP.
A 47-year-old Los Angeles man was driving a 2020 Chevrolet Silverado going south when the two vehicles crashed, CHP officials said.
The motorcyclist was ejected from her bike as a result of the collision. Responding emergency personal started life-saving efforts, including CPR, according to the CHP.
She was pronounced dead at the scene, officials said. Her name is being withheld pending notification of next of kin.
The truck driver and his two passengers were not injured, CHP officials said.
The roadway was closed in both directions for more than three hours, CHP officials said.
The Oct. 6 crash marks at least the fourth deadly incident on local roadways in four days.
A Santa Paula woman died earlier Oct. 6 in a two-vehicle collision on Foothill Road just east of Ventura, CHP officials said.
A 20-year-old Camarillo woman died in Ventura Oct. 4 after she apparently lost control of her motorcycle and was launched from it as she was driving from northbound Highway 101 to Highway 126. She was struck by two vehicles, according to the CHP.
A 29-year-old Oxnard man was killed in a crash around 10 p.m. Oct. 3 near Point Mugu. He had been headed northbound when his Hyundai Elantra crossed over to opposing lanes and was struck by a Chevy Silverado, CHP said. The man had not been wearing a seatbelt at the time of the crash, CHP officials said.
The Oct. 6 crash on PCH is still under investigation. Anyone with information is asked to contact CHP Officer Greg Jones at 805-662-2640.
