After two seasons with the Dallas Mavericks, longtime member of the Golden State Warriors, Klay Thompson, is set to make a move to the third organization of his career. After agreeing to a buyout with the Mavericks late in the offseason, Thompson reportedly will join Giannis Antetokounmpo and the new-look Miami Heat.
On Friday, Shams Charania of ESPN reported Thompson is expected to sign with the Heat after he clears waivers following a buyout with the Mavericks. Thompson will now join Antetokounmpo and Bam Adebayo in South Beach under Erik Spoelstra. Thompson will help provide some much-needed shooting and floor spacing to a rotation with one of the best new frontcourts in the Eastern Conference.

After spending the first 11 seasons of his career in the Bay Area, winning four championships and being named to five All-Star teams, Thompson joined Luka Doncic and Kyrie Irving in the Lone Star State with the Mavericks. However, during his short tenure with the Mavs, Doncic was shockingly traded to the Lakers while Irving dealt with an injury and Dallas began a rebuild around young star Cooper Flagg.
In two seasons with the Mavericks, Thompson averaged 12.9 points on 40.3% shooting from the field to go along with 2.8 rebounds and 1.7 assists per game. Thompson shot 38.7% from deep on 7.7 attempts from beyond the arc per contest in Dallas.
