Recent study ranks 6 California cities as some of the worst run in the US

Personal finance company, WalletHub, released a study on June 17 ranking the best and worst-run cities in the country, with at least six of California’s cities ranking in the bottom 10.

The website took the 148 most populated cities in the country and evaluated them across six categories: financial stability, education, health, safety, economy, infrastructure & and pollution.

The average of all categories were calculated as “quality of city services” and divided by a city’s “total budget per capita” to decide the overall rankings.

What are the best and worst-run cities in California?

Huntington Beach was the only city in the Golden State that made it in the top half of the list, landing at No. 34. The city also ranked top on the list for the “quality of city services” metric.

San Francisco ranked dead last as the worst-run U.S. city on the list. The East Bay city of Oakland landed two spots above it at No. 146.

No cities in California broke the top 10 best-run cities in the state.
