Puka Nacua has no say in who the Los Angeles Rams sign to their roster, but he put on his recruiting hat recently when he ran into LeBron James in New York. During his media session on Wednesday, Nacua told reporters that he invited James to play tight end for the Rams if he ever wants to hang up his jersey as an NBA star.
Nacua is disappointed he won’t get to see LeBron as often now that he’s a member of the Philadelphia 76ers, but he plans to attend James’ first game back in L.A. this season.
“Sadly, I’m definitely not flying out to Philly to make any of those games,” Nacua said. “But I did see him out in New York and I told him that, ‘I know we got a lot of tight ends and we’re running 13 personnel so if he ever wants to hang up the jersey, we got some cleats for him for sure.’”
There’s long been speculation about James’ potential as a tight end in the NFL, especially after he was a standout receiver in high school. Obviously, he’s never tried his hand at professional football, but he probably could’ve made it in the NFL, too.
Nacua idolizes James so you can understand why he would love to play alongside the NBA legend on the gridiron.
