A man died Thursday morning in Stockton in what police believe to be a hit-and-run.
The Stockton Police Department said officers responded at about 7:02 a.m. to the area of E. Martin Luther King Boulevard and South B Street on a report of a person down on the side of the road.
Arriving officers found an unresponsive man, in his 40s, on the ground, police said.
Medical personnel who arrived at the scene pronounced the man dead, according to police.
The identification of the man killed was not immediately released.
Police said preliminary information indicated that the man may have been struck by an unknown passing vehicle.
The Stockton Police Department’s traffic section responded to the scene to assume the investigation.
The roadways in the area have now been reopened at 1 p.m. on Thursday.
