New Rancho San Miguel Market opens soon in Stockton — here’s what’s inside

Rancho San Miguel Markets has announced an opening date for its newest Stockton location.

North Stockton’s newest grocery store is set to open at 7 a.m. on Wednesday, March 4, at 2323 W. Hammer Lane, with a ribbon-cutting. The new store hours will be from 6 a.m. to 10 p.m., seven days a week. The store takes over the former space of Food Source, which permanently closed in June.

Food Source in Stockton was owned by Raley’s but run independently, Chelsea Carbahal, vice president of community impact and public affairs for Raley’s, told The Record previously.

“We’re incredibly proud to bring a new Rancho San Miguel Market to Northern Stockton,” said Chris Podesto, vice president and general manager of PAQ, Inc. “As the 25th store in our company, this opening reinforces our long‑standing commitment to the City of Stockton, San Joaquin County, and the greater Central Valley. We’re excited to continue growing with the families we serve and look forward to becoming a trusted part of this neighborhood.”

The new location hired more than 100 employees and is still currently hiring, the company stated. Open positions on the company’s website include a grocery lead day, bakery cake decorator, reflief manager and meat cutter, among others.

“Grand opening festivities will kick off with an exciting treat for our early shoppers! The first 100 customers will receive a complimentary Rancho San Miguel swag bag packed with product samples, exclusive coupons, and a raffle ticket for a chance to win amazing prizes — including a Weber BBQ grill, a flat‑screen TV, and Rancho San Miguel Markets gift cards,” the company told The Record on Wednesday, Feb. 11.

The March 4 celebration will begin with a ribbon‑cutting ceremony at 7 a.m., followed by the store opening its doors to welcome its first guests of the day.

“And to make the morning even more festive, we’ll have a live mariachi band there to greet you with music and energy as we kick off this special moment,” company officials stated.

According to the company, the new store is 62,000 square feet and will feature a full‑service carnicería, a panadería with traditional Mexican pastries baked every day, an authentic cocina offering fresh and prepared foods like tacos, burritos and more, a salsa and ceviche bar, aguas frescas, family meals like chile verde and fried chicken, and a coffee bar.

“This marks the company’s 25th store overall and its eighth Rancho San Miguel Market, as well as its second Rancho San Miguel Market in the city of Stockton, expanding access to a new shopping destination in North Stockton and further strengthening the company’s commitment to serving Central Valley communities with affordable groceries,” the company stated in an email.

Other Rancho San Miguel Markets are in Lodi, Merced, Madera, Greenfield, Livingston and Sacramento.
