Through the 2024-25 season, the Los Angeles Lakers have had a total of 506 players suit up for them, going back to their days in Minneapolis. Some were forgettable, some were serviceable, some were good and a select few were flat-out legendary.
During the Lakers’ 80th season of existence (they were founded back in 1946 as the Detroit Gems in the National Basketball League), LeBron Wire is taking a look at each player who has worn their jersey, whether it has been a purple and gold one or the ones they donned back in the Midwest during their early years.
In 1993, the Lakers started to commit to a long-term rebuilding project after Magic Johnson retired. That meant grabbing as many young prospects as possible and seeing how many of them would stick, and that offseason, they signed Antonio Harvey as an undrafted free agent.
Harvey, a 6-foot-11 big man, spent his first two seasons with the Lakers and averaged 2.9 points, 1.9 rebounds and 0.7 blocks in 9.5 minutes a game with them. He spent six more seasons in the NBA and ended with career league averages of three points, 2.3 rebounds and 0.7 blocks in 10.4 minutes a game.
In the middle of his NBA career, Harvey took a brief detour and played two seasons in Europe, and he was a two-time All-Star in Greece during that time.
