Through the 2024-25 season, the Los Angeles Lakers have had a total of 506 players suit up for them, going back to their days in Minneapolis. Some were forgettable, some were serviceable, some were good and a select few were flat-out legendary.
During the Lakers’ 80th season of existence (they were founded back in 1946 as the Detroit Gems in the National Basketball League), LeBron Wire is taking a look at each player who has worn their jersey, whether it has been a purple and gold one or the ones they donned back in the Midwest during their early years.
Myles Patrick, a 6-foot-8 small forward originally from Macon, Ga., spent four seasons at Auburn University, where he averaged 8.3 points and 6.5 rebounds a game. He went undrafted after completing his senior season in 1978, but the Lakers signed him as an undrafted free agent two years later.
He appeared in three games with the Lakers during the 1980-81 season and totaled five points, two rebounds and one assist in nine minutes. That would be it as far as his NBA career, although he did also have stints with the Maine Lumberjacks in the Continental Basketball Association and the Montana Sky in the Western Basketball Association.
