Lakers jersey history No. 12 — Devontae Cacok

Through the 2024-25 season, the Los Angeles Lakers have had a total of 506 players suit up for them, going back to their days in Minneapolis. Some were forgettable, some were serviceable, some were good and a select few were flat-out legendary.

During the Lakers’ 80th season of existence (they were founded back in 1946 as the Detroit Gems in the National Basketball League), LeBron Wire is taking a look at each player who has worn their jersey, whether it has been a purple and gold one or the ones they donned back in the Midwest during their early years.

Prior to the 2019-20 season, the Lakers signed Devontae Cacok, a 6-foot-7, 240-pound big man, to an Exhibit 10 contract. He was waived and then brought back by the Lakers as a G League player before they gave him a two-way contract early in the season.

He appeared in one game and had six points, five rebounds and one assist in nine minutes on Aug. 13 versus the Sacramento Kings as the Lakers went on to win the NBA championship. The following season, he totaled 39 points, 32 rebounds, five steals and four blocks in 20 games with Los Angeles.

Cacok spent the 2021-22 season with the San Antonio Spurs to wrap up his NBA career. He later went on to play pro basketball for CSKA Moscow and Virtus Olidata Bologna, and he’s currently a member of UCAM Murcia, a pro basketball club in Spain.
