The Golden State Warriors have officially come to terms with free agent center Kristaps Porzingis on a new deal, according to NBA insider Shams Charania. The contract is worth $40 million over two seasons with a player option in the second year.
This is a great outcome for the Warriors, as Porzingis could have tested the free agent market in hopes of a larger contract. Last season, in 15 games following the Jonathan Kuminga trade, Porzingis averaged 16.1 points, 5.3 rebounds, 2.3 assists, 1.1 blocks and 0.6 steals. Now after drafting Yaxel Lendeborg and re-signing both Al Horford and Porzingis, Golden State has quickly taken care of their holes in the frontcourt. A new contract for Draymond Green is likely to be the team’s next priority as the former Michigan State Spartan declined his $27.7 million player option Monday.
