Jayden Daniels comments on Brandon Aiyuk's situation amid trade rumors

The saga of San Francisco 49ers receiver Brandon Aiyuk continues to go nowhere. The disgruntled former first-round pick remains on the roster away from the team, and the 49ers certainly don’t seem intent on keeping him around once they’ve found a trade partner.

The issue, though, is that no other team has emerged as a viable landing spot. While many expect the Washington Commanders to make a move for Aiyuk because he and Commanders quarterback Jayden Daniels played together in college, Washington doesn’t seem interested in making a trade when they know the 49ers could simply release him.

So, when reporters asked Daniels what he thought about the Aiyuk situation, the Commanders quarterback simply stated he had no idea what would happen to his former teammate.

“I don’t have a sense on it,” he said, via ESPN’s John Keim. That is my brother. We have a personal relationship, but his football future is out of my control.”

This is to be expected. The Commanders may be the best suitor, but that doesn’t mean a move will be made between the two teams. And, because of that, Daniels has no real leverage in getting a deal done. The 49ers have repeatedly said they aren’t in a rush to trade Aiyuk, so his status with the team remains in limbo until something changes.
