Former Rams WR Demarcus Robinson primed for big night with 49ers vs. his old team

The Los Angeles Rams will get to see a lot of their former teammate in Week 5 against the San Francisco 49ers.

Wide receiver Demarcus Robinson, who spent the past two years with the Rams, is in line to start for his new team after injuries to Ricky Pearsall and Jauan Jennings. Robinson missed the first three weeks of the 2025 season with a suspension for his DUI arrest and caught just one of two targets for 20 yards in his 49ers debut.

With San Francisco’s top receivers out, Robinson should see a lot of looks from backup quarterback Mac Jones, who’s filling in for the injured Brock Purdy.

The Rams opted not to keep Robinson this year after he caught a career-best 505 receiving yards and seven touchdowns in 2024. Robinson indicated he wanted to return to L.A., but Rams decided to keep Tutu Atwell and sign Davante Adams instead. Some of that could have been because of Robinson’s DUI arrest and impending suspension.

Whatever the case may be, Robinson is where he is and the Rams are where they are. And, to be honest, this is probably the best situation for both sides. Robinson would not have had a role in a crowded receiver room in L.A. and now gets an opportunity to showcase his talents on a primetime stage with a good offense.

In 10 seasons, the former Florida fourth-rounder has caught 145 receptions for 1,679 yards and 14 touchdowns in 97 games. Robinson tallied 57 receptions for 876 yards and 11 touchdowns in two seasons for the Rams.
