Camarillo police were called to the 2000 block of Brookhill Drive around 5:30 p.m. on a report of a disturbance, said Ventura County Sheriff’s Capt. Brian Slominski. The sheriff’s office provides police services for the city of Camarillo.

Slominski said there was no threat to anybody in the house. He was not sure if the man lived at the residence but he was known to the homeowners and believed to have a gun, the captain said.

Neighbors within a two-block radius were notified to shelter in place, Slominiski said.

The sheriff’s office had a large police presence in the area, including patrol officers with K-9s and drones and a tactical negotiations unit. A helicopter had also been briefly called out, Slominski added.

A crew of firefighters had also staged in the neighborhood, he said.

A SWAT team was also deployed, said Capt. Aaron Grass. The man, 42, of Camarillo, was arrested around 1 a.m. on Jan. 25, Grass said.

The man is being held at a Ventura County jail with a bail set at $30,000 for felony offenses including resisting an executive officer, criminal threats, vandalism and unlawful transfer of firearm, jail records show. He’s scheduled for a Ventura County Superior Court hearing on Jan. 27.
