The top honor in CIF-Southern Section girls water polo has come home to Oaks Christian for the second straight season.
Goalkeeper Alexandra Stoddard was named Girls Water Polo Player of the Year in the CIF-Southern Section Open Division for the 2025-26 season after her play in the cage led the the Lions to their second straight title in the section’s top division. Stoddard blocked three five-meter penalties in the final two matches of their CIF-SS title run this season.
The Star’s Player of the Year this season shared the honor with teammate Mia Fabros last winter.
An Olympic hopeful, Stoddard was the highlight of this year’s All-CIF selections for the area, which honored 41 total local athletes across six sports for their play in the section playoffs in the winter season.
Girls soccer
The most All-CIF selections of any sport were in girls soccer, with a total of 14 players from six different schools.
Oaks Christian midfielder Jonnie Jane Quiroz, defender Lauren Gatien and goalie Maine Lillie were named to the Open Division first team, while Division 1 honorees included Camarillo forward Mackenzie Gwin and Westlake midfielder KK Chowana, forward Grace Wetzel and defender Mia Pappas.
Midfielders Natalie Oropeza and Alessandra Zamarripa and goalkeeper Carmen Sanchez, who had four saves in a semifinal victory, were Division 5 first-team selections after leading Del Sol to the championship match in its inaugural varsity season.
Anchors of the Simi Valley defense, defender Mackenzie Jamison and goalie Kendall Ellis, were named to the Division 3 first team.
Grace forward Addison Cho and defender Isabella Cocca were named to the Division 6 first team.
Boys soccer
Calabasas midfielders Liam Guedalia and Laurenz Leitzgen were Division 3 first-team selections after helping lead the Coyotes team to a deep CIF-SS run. Forward Adrian Padilla and defender Adrian Villanueva of Channel Islands, which was defeated by Calabasas in the semifinals, were also named to the Division 3 first team team.
Pacifica midfielder Justin Martinez, Pacifica defender Osmin Chavez, Santa Paula midfielder Matthew Lira were Division 4 first-team selections. Camarillo midfielder Jack Slocum and goalkeeper Anthony Garcia were named to the Division 5 first team.
Thacher goalie Theo Martin and forward Jungbin Yoon were Division 8 first-team selections.
Girls basketball
A vintage girls basketball season locally saw nine players named to All-CIF teams, including six in the top four divisions.
Oak Park senior wing Karisma Flores, The Star’s 2025-26 Girls Basketball Player of the Year, was an Open Division first-team selection and Ventura senior guard Kai Staniland was named to the Division 1 first team.
Camarillo guard Dani Rocha and forward Emerson Martin were part of the Division 2 first team and Oxnard freshman guard Gia Angell and sophomore forward Destinee Herrera were Division 3 first-team selections.
Foothill Tech forward Jocelyn Morales was named to the Division 7 first team and Channel Islands junior Alyssa Olmos and sophomore Maki Plascencia were selected to the Division 10 first team.
Boys basketball
St. Bonaventure senior center Adam Ayala was the only local All-CIF selection in boys basketball after leading the Seraphs to the semifinals of the Division 6 playoffs.
Girls water polo
On top of having a player win the top honor in the top division, Oaks Christian had two players — attackers Mia Fabros and Nicole O’Neill — named to the Open Division first team.
Agoura freshmen attackers Peyton Rosenthal and Jamison Boyd made the Division 1 first team.
Competitive cheer
Oaks Christian junior Finley O’Sullivan was a Division 3AA first-team selection and Pacifica senior Juju Hernandez was named to the Division 4 Co-Ed first team.
