2026 Lakers draft prospects: Corey Stephenson

The Los Angeles Lakers are about to begin what could turn out to be a very consequential offseason. They’re projected to have tens of millions of dollars of salary cap space, as well as two future first-round draft picks to offer in a trade, and those resources could allow them to start to truly build a championship-caliber team around Luka Doncic.

Los Angeles will also have the No. 25 pick in this year’s draft, and that will be an important asset they must maximize. They have been starting to work out prospects in this year’s draft class, including Corey Stephenson, a 6-foot-6 wing from Florida International University who reportedly had two workouts with them.

Stephenson averaged 18 points on 45.7% overall shooting and 39.8% from 3-point range, 6.4 rebounds, 1.6 assists and 1.4 steals a game this season. He had played for California State University, Long Beach, during the prior two seasons before transferring for the 2025-26 campaign.

He has solid leaping ability, and he appears to have the ability to score from all three levels. His ability to get on the boards is excellent for a wing his size, and he was named to the All-Conference USA Second Team this past season.

Stephenson is projected to be a late second-round pick or an undrafted free agent. He could be an intriguing prospect for the Lakers to keep tabs on.
