2 ESPN analyst say Rams should trade for Maxx Crosby

Las Vegas Raiders edge rusher Maxx Crosby is perhaps the biggest veteran trade target of the 2026 offseason. Crosby is reportedly unhappy with the Raiders, and it’s been widely speculated that teams will approach the Raiders to trade him. The cost for Crosby, though, could be anywhere to one first-round picks to several.

The Los Angeles Rams aren’t in serious need of a star edge rusher, but that doesn’t mean some have theorized what a trade for Crosby could look like. More than likely, it would take at least two first-round picks over then ext two years, so something like both the Nos. 13 and 29 picks or a combination of either with at least one more future first-rounder, and maybe an additional veteran as well.

While this is all hypothetical, two ESPN analysts think the Rams should try to pull it off. Dan Orlovsky said recently that the Rams should “go trade for Maxx Crosby” to upgrade their defense.

“This is a Super Bowl football team. You are a player away on the defensive side, a difference maker from being better than Seattle,” Orlovsky said, via ESPN LA. “If you take Max Crosby and you put him with [Byron] Young and [Kobie] Turner and [Braden] Fiske and Poona Ford, now we’ve got a defensive line that you could look to Seattle and be like, ‘Hey, we’re just as good, if not better, than yours.’ The Rams, I know the future quarterback is a question mark. That doesn’t matter. Go trade for Maxx Crosby.”

In a different clip shared by ESPN LA, NFL insider Peter Schrager called a Crosby trade “an absolute no-brainer” for the Rams. Schrager speculated that it would cost at least three first-round picks to pull off a deal with the Raiders, though.

Crosby is clearly a defensive dynamo on the line. He’s tallied 69.5 sacks in seven seasons and has very healthy throughout his career. He’ll be 29 before the 2026 season starts and might be a bit redundant on the Rams’ defense, but Les Snead has rarely shied away from adding top-flight talent when the opportunity presents itself.
