Introduction: The ninth in the series of Dogs as Pets
A subscriber to the Yale Expositor newspaper who resides in St Clair Shores (Michigan) contacted a relative who resides in Imlay City (Michigan) about an article in the paper. The Imlay City resident called the BLUE WATER AREA FALLEN HEROES BANNER Project hotline and made an appointment to have a picture scanned. was 20 years of age when his tour of duty ended May 7th, 1944 in Yugoslavia. He proudly represented the city of Yale (Michigan) in the Army Air Corps. His photo is the 234th image we have scanned out of the 580+ we hope to find. His photo was presented by his 87-year-old sister. During our time together, she named five families from the Yale area who were Gold Star families. One of those we did not know about but will research just the same. She intends to reach out to any remaining relatives to locate a photo.
The need for community involvement is huge. This is a Saint Clair County-wide project. It includes all of us. This project is driven by, and for the families of these brave men as well as being driven for the memories of these many sacrifices. Our 24/7 hotline hardly rings lately. If you cannot come to Port Huron, we have been known to make road trips and would be willing to meet you at any public place of your choosing. There is NO COST to you, now or in the future. We can also scan slides and negatives. If you have access to or know someone who has a photo of a Saint Clair County resident who died while in service to their country, please contact (810) 985-2007.
Also, please note. We will go just about anywhere, to address any group (Church, social, fraternal, Service group, you name it) simply to educate the public about this project.
Blue Water Healthy Living strongly encourages everyone to get involved with this very worthy project. We would not enjoy the freedom today that we do if it were not for these brave heroes. Let them live on in this tribute to the real heroes of America!
