Port Huron Elks Lodge 343 Freedom Grant Presentation

By The Port Huron Elks Lodge 343

On Monday, September 8th the Port Huron Elks Lodge 343 of the Benevolent and Protective Order of Elks, and the Elks National Veterans Service Commission Freedom grant program were represented by Lodge 343 Elks member Scott R. Harris DDGER, ENF Chairman & Grant writer, Lodge members & Veterans Eric Binkley US Air Force, & Patrick Thompson, US Army. Together, they were proud to present the 2025-2026 ENVSC-Veterans $1,000.00 Freedom Grant to Edward Toles, Commander with the Disabled American Veterans (DAV), Adjutant Chapter 12, the Men & Women Who Served. With this Grant, Lodge 343 purchased (10) new foldable Soundfuse Rollator All Terrain Rolling Walkers with 8” Wheels, Handles, Ergonomic Seat Height Adjustable Seat, with a weight capacity of 350 pounds valued at $953.80. Also, a check in the amount of $46.20 was presented to cover the expense for the evening’s pizza, coffee, beverages, & treats for this presentation. This grant purchase of the all-terrain walkers will be used and/or distributed to the Veteran members in need with the DAV.

The grant was made possible with continued donations from Lodge 343 members and the Fraternal Order of Elks. It should be noted that our Lodge 343 Members, continually aid and support our local many Veterans’ organizations throughout the year. In addition, Lodge 343 continues to foster an already close relationship with the St. Clair County Department of Veterans Affairs, the Veterans Clinic at the Yale Community Health Center, McLaren/Port Huron, and the Michigan Veteran Homes at Chesterfield Township. The Freedom Grant is an integral part in supporting our esteemed Veterans. This also enables our Lodge 343 to keep our continued support of our local Veterans visible to our members. The Elks pledge that “So long as there are veterans, the Benevolent and Protective Order of Elks will never forget them.” and Port Huron Elks Lodge 343 membership truly believes in this pledge.
