Former Mr. Basketball finalist Merritt Alderink is on the move once again.
The Zeeland West graduate who played for Indiana State as a freshman and Eastern Michigan as a junior, following a redshirt year, has transferred to Ferris State University.

After playing two years of NCAA Division I basketball, Alderink will join one of the top Division II programs, which has a new coach in Brooks Miller, who led Trine to a national championship at the Division III level.
Alderink averaged two points per game for the Eagles last year, seeing action in 24 games.
As a freshman at Indiana State, Alderink appeared in 13 games, averaging 2.5 points and 1.5 rebounds per game, with a shooting percentage of 59.1% from the field.
At Zeeland West, Alderink led the Dux to the Division 1 state semifinals at the Breslin Center, the program’s best finish. He was the first player in program history to sign an NCAA Division I letter-of-intent.
