Rising country singer Zach John King is taking some time off the road due to the death of his father, he revealed on social media.
“Friday my dad suddenly went home to Jesus,” the “Get to Drinkin'” singer wrote in an Instagram post. “He was our family’s rock. My best friend. The greatest man I will ever know.”
King said he is postponing his next two weeks of touring as a result, “to grieve with my family,” he told his 190,000 followers on the platform. “After that, imma do what my dad would want me to do and get back to work.”
King’s current schedule includes several festival performances, and he has a handful of shows scheduled where he’s opening up for Luke Bryan and later Riley Green.
His solo tour kicks off Oct. 1 and includes an Oct. 9 date at El Club in Detroit; tickets, $27.81, are on sale now.
King, who hails from Fayetteville, Georgia, released his debut single “Just Missed You” in 2023. His 6-song EP “Wannabe Cowboy” followed in 2024, and his “Slow Down” EP was released in 2025.
King’s debut album, “I’m What You Get,” is due out Aug. 28.
King’s Instagram tribute to his father concluded with the following passage.
“I’ll leave ya’ll with what he said every morning even when I didn’t want to hear it… ‘today is the day the Lord has made I will rejoice and be glad in it’. I love you dad. I’ll see you soon.”
