A Bingham Farms woman believed to have used alcohol and marijuana before driving along the bottom of ski slopes at an Oakland County ski resort will spend 30 days in jail, a judge has ordered.
Margaret Feely, 58, was sentenced Thursday to two years of probation and was ordered to pay a $500 fine, according to online Oakland County Circuit records, after she drove along the base of the ski slopes at Alpine Valley Ski Area in White Lake Township on Feb. 24.
Prosecutors said she operated the vehicle near skiers and snowboarders, including children, putting them in danger.
Her vehicle will be immobilized for one year. Feely is also barred from using alcohol or illegal drugs and must submit to testing to ensure compliance, records show. She also may not enter any establishment that serves alcohol.
Feely was charged with operating a vehicle while impaired. Witnesses told police Feely was seen smoking marijuana before the incident and that she was wearing ski boots while driving. During a field sobriety test, Feely showed poor balance, slurred her speech and referred to one officer as “Nazi dude,” prosecutors said.
Authorities said the incident was Feely’s third drunken driving offense.
Her attorney, Robert Morad, didn’t immediately return messages seeking comment.
