Witnesses sought in fatal Bedford Twp. hit and run

Monroe County Sheriff Troy Goodnough is asking any witnesses of a July 23 fatal hit-and-run to contact the sheriff’s department.

The man found dead on the side of South Telegraph Road in Bedford Township was identified as Kevin Chesney, 61, of Temperance.

Preliminary investigation by the Monroe County Sheriff’s Office revealed Chesney was walking northbound on South Telegraph Road, north of Crabb Road, on the east side of the roadway when he was struck by what is believed to be a vehicle.

Investigators believe the vehicle may be a pick-up truck or commercial vehicle and would have passenger side damage.

The crash remains under investigation by deputies Alec Preadmore and Hunter Chirillo of the Traffic Services Division. Anyone with information or if you were in the area at this time of the crash is asked to call 734-240-7541.
