Now that both Democrats and Republicans in Michigan have held their endorsement conventions, the contests for several key statewide offices appear to be set for this November’s election.
Republicans held their endorsement convention in March in Novi, while Democrats backed their favored slate of candidates Sunday, April 19, in Detroit.
In Michigan, candidates for most statewide races are decided by political parties, although voters will get to select candidates for governor and U.S. Senator in the August statewide primary. The endorsement conventions allow party delegates to decide on their favored candidates, although candidates won’t be officially nominated for the ballot until party conventions later this year.
Candidates from smaller political parties can and likely will also appear on the ballot in November, as well.
Here’s who Republicans and Democrats endorsed at their respective conventions for the following races:
Attorney General
Secretary of State
Michigan Supreme Court
Michigan State Board of Education
University of Michigan Board of Regents
Michigan State University Board of Trustees
Wayne State University Board of Governors
