Where to find the cheapest, most expensive gas in southeast Michigan

Gas prices in Michigan have reached their highest level since August 2023 amid the turmoil in the Middle East from President Donald Trump and Israel’s ongoing war with Iran.

At the start of the day, the statewide average for a gallon of unleaded gas was $3.92 a gallon, $1.07 more than this time last month, according to AAA Michigan.

AAA’s numbers were based on surveys of gas stations on Sunday.

On Monday, however, motorists began reporting gas prices rising above $4 per gallon across the state.

Here’s where gas has spiked above $4 per gallon

As of Sunday, Livingston County had among the most expensive gas in Southeast Michigan, ringing in at $3.98 per gallon.

On GasBuddy.com, motorists were reporting gas as high as $4.19 per gallon at the Speedway on East Grand River near Howell on Monday afternoon.

A Shell station at 8281 W Grand River Road in Brighton was selling gas at $4.19 a gallon on Monday afternoon, according to GasBuddy.com users.

In Oakland County, a Speedway at 1720 Rochester Road in Royal Oak hit $4.19 a gallon on Monday afternoon, as did a Speedway at 880 East Maple Road in Troy, according to GasBuddy.

In Novi, GasBuddy users reported paying $4.19 at the Speedway stations at 47395 Pontiac Trail, 31275 Haggerty Road, 21070 Haggerty Road and 24210 Novi Road. The Amoco at 29009 Northwestern Highway in Southfield and the BP station at 29150 Northwestern Highway in Southfield were also charging customers $4.19 per gallon, according to GasBuddy.

In Macomb County, motorists paid $4.19 a gallon at an Exxon at 36945 Mound Road and a Speedway at 11651 East 15 Mile Road in Sterling Heights. A Speedway in Roseville at 28410 Gratiot Avenue and a Mobil at 28890 Gratiot Avenue in Roseville were also charging $4.19 per gallon, according to GasBuddy.

At a Sunoco on East Grand River in Genoa Township in Livingston County, the price was $4.15 per gallon for unleaded.

In Livonia, customers reported paying $4.19 a gallon on Monday afternoon at the Mobil station at 33400 Plymouth Road and Speedway at 31374 Schoolcraft Road, according to GasBuddy.com.

The average fuel price was over $4 a gallon in the northern Michigan counties of Cheboygan, Mackinac, Luce, Schoolcraft, Alger, Keweenaw, Houghton, Gogebic and Ontonagon counties, according to AAA’s Sunday survey.

Here’s where to find the cheapest gas in Metro Detroit

Customers at the Sunoco at 18854 Northline Road in Southgate were reporting $3.29 gas late Monday morning, while the Sunoco station 32912 Cherry Hill Road in Garden City was selling gas at $3.49 per gallon on Monday, according to GasBuddy.com.

A BP gas station at 7837 Allen Road in Allen Park had gas selling for $3.49 a gallon on Monday morning, according to GasBuddy.

A Sheetz convenience store at 2103 W Michigan Ave. in Ypsilanti was selling gas for $3.49 a gallon on Monday afternoon, according to GasBuddy.

A Costco member reported paying $3.64 on Monday afternoon at the discount giant’s gas station on Gratiot Avenue near I-696 in Roseville, according to GasBuddy.

Sam’s Club members reported paying $3.69 per gallon for unleaded gas early Monday afternoon at the warehouse store at 22500 West 8 Mile Road in Southfield.
