When do playoffs start for Michigan high school sports? Here's a timeline for fall events

The regular season for most of the Michigan High School Athletic Association’s fall sports are nearing an end. That means that playoffs are right around the corner.

While football games didn’t start until late August, other sports −including volleyball, cross country and field hockey − held their first contests before the 2025-26 school year officially began. Now, they are days away from entering the postseason.
