With Michigan State men’s basketball competing in the second weekend of the Men’s NCAA Tournament, the Spartans look to snap their seven-year Final Four drought.
To do that, the Spartans will need two wins in the East Regional.
The first step comes at 9:45 p.m. when the 3-seeded Spartans take on 2-seeded UConn inside Capital One Arena in Washington D.C., a meeting between two of the top coaches in the country, with Michigan State’s Tom Izzo and UConn’s Dan Hurley.

To get to D.C. for the second weekend, Michigan State defeated No. 14 North Dakota State 92-67 in the first round and then No. 6 Louisville 77-69 last weekend in Buffalo, New York. Junior forward Coen Carr filled up the box sheet for the Spartans against the Cardinals, as he finished with 21 points on 8-of-13 shooting from the field to go along with 10 rebounds, two blocks and a steal.
The Spartans will have their hands full on Friday with a Huskies squad led by Alex Karaban and Tarris Reed Jr. that has a top-11 defense in the country according to KenPom’s adjusted defensive efficiency metrics.
