West Ottawa senior class celebrates 28 athletes committing to college ranks

West Ottawa celebrated the athletic commitment of 28 seniors headed to the college ranks on Tuesday.

The group has athletes headed to NCAA Division I ranks as well as Division II, Division III, NAIA and junior college teams.

The Division I commits are Magaly Lemus for volleyball at Cleveland State, Helen Sachs who will run at Notre Dame, Kirstyn Wilson, who will cheer at Western Michigan and Tyler Noblett, who will play hockey and lacrosse at Michigan State.

Isabel Anaya is the first female wrestler from the area to head to the college ranks. She committed to Manchester University.

Other Division II commits are Evan Aulick for lacrosse (GVSU), Kayden Forbes for football (Wayne State), Emma Gunnett for cross country and track (GVSU), Sophia Kloc for softball (Walsh), Liliana Perez for swimming (Indianapolis).

Division III commits are Makenzie Baldwin for swimming (Hope), Brandon Berry for track (Adrian), Connor Knapp for football (Hope), McKinley Levandoski for swim (Albion), Quinton McLeod for lacrosse (Earlham), Jane Olney for cross country and track (DePauw), Ashleyn Stonick for tumbling (Calvin) and Avery VanDellen for basketball (Lawrence).

The NAIA signees were Baylee Davis and Ethan Elms for swimming, Teagan Johnson for hockey, Bryce Rivera for rugby, Jackson Rowe for track (Aquinas).

The junior college signees are Chase Gerlach and Tai Hescott for baseball (Muskegon Community College), Kylie Kruithoff for tennis (Grand Rapids Community College), Collin Roelofs for baseball (Lansing Community College) and Valerie Rosas for soccer (Grand Rapids Community College).
