Acorn Farm Annual Polish Pottery Sale
Acorn Farm in Milford will host its 18th Annual Polish Pottery Sale, kicking off at 5 p.m. Aug. 6 with Polish dancers and accordion music just before the sale starts. The selection will include Polish pottery in traditional and Unikat patterns as well as Halloween, Christmas and other seasonal pieces. Also featured that evening will be Rick and Joann Holton of European Design Imports, who will show some antique pieces from their collection and share a bit of Polish pottery history. Annual Farm and Garden Tour
The 2026 Annual Farm and Garden Tour will take place from 5:30 p.m.-9 p.m. Aug. 5 (rain date is Aug. 6). This event brings Detroit’s food community together to explore the farms and gardens that sustain the city – highlighting local ecosystems, shared stewardship and community connection. Visit a variety of growing spaces and learn the stories behind their gardens in Detroit, Highland Park and Hamtramck. The tour highlights gardens that include family, homestead, community, school and market-focused spaces. After the tour, there will be a celebration at KGD Farm. Bus and bike tour routes begin and end at KGD Farm, 3100 Orleans in Detroit. General admission tickets are $25. Tickets for ages 12 and under are $10. Each ticket includes admission to the tour and the celebration at the farm featuring seasonal dishes by local chefs utilizing Grown in Detroit produce. Northville Art House Art Market
The Northville Art House Art Market will feature a three-day celebration of art, creativity, food and community in historic downtown Northville Aug.14-16. This event will transform Center and Main streets into an outdoor gallery and creative destination, featuring around 100 artists along with food vendors and more. Original artwork will include paintings, ceramics, photography, sculpture, jewelry, glass, fiber art, woodworking, mixed media, printmaking, metalwork and contemporary craft. Detroit News Garden Photo Contest
Tracey Mocon is this week’s winner of The Detroit News Garden Photo Contest. “Joanie’s Dream Garden is filled with flowers and plants that pollinators love,” she wrote. Through Aug. 17 at noon, you’ll be able to enter pictures of your garden (shots from this year only, please) and winners will be named every week through Aug. 21. Weekly winners will receive a home or garden book. Those winners will then compete for the grand prize — a $200 VISA gift card. A winner will be announced Sept. 11.
