We tried several breadstick flavors at Sluggo's Pizzeria in Holland

HOLLAND — Sluggo’s Pizzeria, a local family-owned restaurant, offers a variety of pizza, subs and sides — but the company’s vast flavor options for breadsticks is what caught our taste-test attention.

Sluggo’s breadsticks come in sweet concoctions like “fruity pebbles” and cinnamon, as well as savory flavors like parmesan garlic and ghost pepper ranch. The business is open 10:30 a.m.-7:30 p.m. Mondays-Thursdays, 10:30 a.m.-8:30 p.m. Saturdays and 12-7 p.m. Sundays at 231 Douglas Ave.

For our most recent taste test, we (photographer Adam Vander Kooy and reporter Cassidey Kavathas) trained our tastebuds by guessing and reviewing four breadstick flavors. Without further ado, here’s what we thought:

Cinnamon

These breadsticks are topped with butter, cinnamon sugar and frosting.

Cassidey: This tastes exactly like a cinnamon roll and was a great sweet option. I would love to have this in my breakfast spread.

Adam: Soft, buttery and coated in cinnamon sugar. A classic done right.

M&M Pretzel

These breadsticks are topped with butter, crushed M&Ms, pretzels and frosting.

Cassidey: I wish this breadstick had more chocolatey favor. The M&M’s are there but could be more in your face. I didn’t notice the pretzels.

Adam: The icing on this one was a fun twist, but I wish they came with a few more M&Ms.

Parmesan Garlic

These breadsticks are topped with butter, parmesan and garlic.

Cassidey: I love the buttery and garlicy sauce. This stick is loaded with the perfect about of parmesan. This is perfect as a side for pizza night.

Adam: This is how breadsticks should be made — savory, buttery and a punch of garlic.

Ghost

These breadsticks are topped with butter, ghost pepper ranch and parmesan.

Cassidey: This has just the right amount of spice to catch you off guard but doesn’t leave you chugging milk. I enjoy a kick, so this was a great savory and unique bite.

Adam: There’s a heat that builds with each bite. It was my first time trying a hot breadstick, and it’s safe to say I’m a fan.

Our Rankings

Cassidey: Parmesan Garlic, Ghost, Cinnamon, M&M Pretzel

Adam: Ghost, Cinnamon, Parmesan Garlic, M&M Pretzel
