Water has been restored to the communities affected by the water main break in Auburn Hills as of 10:30 a.m. on Wednesday, May 13, according to the Great Lakes Water Authority.
Water is now being provided at normal pressures, but boil water advisories remain in place for residents and businesses in Orion Township, the Village of Lake Orion, northern Auburn Hills and the northwest corner of Rochester Hills as the communities are in the process of flushing their systems, according to GLWA in a news release on Wednesday afternoon.
Officials originally estimated the water main that broke on Monday, May 11, would take up to two weeks to repair.
The boil advisories will remain in effect until the multi-day water quality testing process is complete, according to GLWA.
As of Wednesday afternoon, Orion Township, Auburn Hills, Rochester Hills and Lake Orion are no longer requiring community members to restrict water use. Residents and businesses can sign up for emergency alert systems and updates from their local municipalities for further updates in the following ways:
GLWA is deploying water trucks to provide residents with one-gallon containers of water, according to Wednesday’s news release. The trucks are stationed from 8 a.m. to 7 p.m. each day at Wildwood Amphitheater, 2700 Joslyn Court, in Orion Township, Auburn Hills Department of Public Works, 1500 Brown Road, and Atwater Park, 426 Atwater Street, in Lake Orion.
Rochester Hills also opened a water distribution center in the parking lot of Von Maur, 400 N. Adams Road, open from 8 a.m. to 7 p.m.
